Urban Decay Fun Palette Swatches & Review

Hi guys, I have a non-nail post today :) I wanted to show you the Urban Decay Fun Palette. This palette was released just over a year ago now, for Spring 2011. It was co-released with the Dangerous and Feminine pallettes.

The Fun Palette features six eyeshadows (0.34 oz.) , a travel size 24/7 (0.03 oz.) eyeliner pencil and a mini primer potion.

Swatches & Review after the Jump!

So here are the shades!

Woodstock.
Woodstock is a dark fuschia or magenta shade with a slight shimmer. This is a permenant shade by Urban Decay and is available for individual purchse. This eyeshadow was reasonably pigmented and applied smoothly.

Baked.
Baked is a highly pigmented golden bronze shade with a stunning metallic finish. This shade is part of Urban Decays permenant line and is available for individual purchase. This eye shadow IS different to their famous Half-Baked featured in several palettes including Naked & Naked2. Baked is more pigmented and saturated, while Half-Baked leans more golden.

 Uzi.
Uzi is a silver/white shade with a ton of silver glitter packed in. Looks pretty doesn't it? Shame it is such a pain to work with, glitter goes EVERYWHERE, and it seems that on your eyes, you can't get the beautiful silver/white sheen of the actual shadow. Uzi was recently discontinued by Urban Decay.

 Sin.
Sin is a chamagne colour with a pinky undertone. It has a frosty or metallic finish and is pretty pigmented and applies smoothly. This colour is in Urban Decay's permenant line and available for individual purchase. It also appears in the Urban Decay Original Naked Palette.

 Flipside.
Flipside is a metallic grean leaning teal.  It is pretty pigmented but I found it a little teeny bit crumbley, but its smooth. Flipside was recently discontinued by Urban Decay.

 Psychedelic Sister
Psychedelic sister is a medium to dark purple with a slight shimmery finish. This shade is pigmented and applies smoothly. Psychedelic sister is part of Urban Decays permenant line and available for individual purchase.

Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in Oil Slick

Oil Slick 24/7 Pencil
Oil Slick liner is a black infused with silver glitter. It applies pretty smoothly but I think it's a bit sheer and not terribly buildable as it sort of wipes itself away on the eyes. It is also useless on the waterline.. I tried to use it and there was just no colour transfer onto the waterline.
However, I took a shower with this on my hand, and it didn't budge. I also then tried to wipe it off, and it didn't budge until I took a makeup remover soaked cotton ball and rubbed and rubbed. It does have incredible staying power, but is difficult to remove so might not be great if you have sensitive eyes.

Urban Decay Original Primer Potion

Urban Decay Original Primer Potion
I like Urban Decays Primer potion, it is fairly long wearing, and helps prevent creasing. It also visibly enhances the colour of the shadows and makes them easier to apply. However, this packaging is rediculous. I know, Urban Decay have now revamped their packaging on the full-size primer potions, but still not the travel size. This packaging makes it impossible to get all product out of the tube, and harder for the wand to actually pick up the product. I find this a hassle to work with.

Thoughts
Over all, I think this palette is a great buy. I don't really understand a couple of things though.. If this is the 'Fun Palette' why does it include Baked and Sin? I know to some Baked it not very subtle, but overall it's a fairly neutral colour, so is sin. Urban Decay should have filled these two spots with some brighter more 'Fun' colours such as Radium or Peace, those two just feel like they belong in the Naked Palettes. The other thing is they eyeliner, I don't know about you, but black is pretty damn standard to me, and this isn't even a very opaque black.. I feel Electric, Ransom or Graffiti might have been a better choice for this palette. Otherwise, the eyeshadows are brilliant, with the exception of Uzi which I now have decided I hate. This palette is also very good value for money .

I also did a very basic but bold look with this palette I thought I'd show you guys.

I used Urban Decay Primer potion and then Psychedelic Sister all over my lid and along my lower lash line. I then used a tiny bit of woodstock to blend out the crease slightly. I used Oil Slick liner on my upper and lower lashline but you can't really tell because it's too sheer. And then finished with mascara and a set of half lashes.
